Description

Stood outside the Millennium Gallery local graphic designer Robert Hurst’s elephant is a tribute to British artist Norman Wilkinson. Wilkinson was a Navy volunteer in the first World War and came up with the idea of using complex, graphic patterns on ships to confuse the enemy as traditional camouflage doesn’t work particularly well on large ships. His concept is known as Dazzle camouflage.

Robert Hurst is a local lad born and educated in Sheffield and a returning student at Sheffield Hallam University.
