The Story of a Steel Bear is designed by David Mayne, who created the original steel bear to be found in the Botanical Gardens’ Bear Pit. David’s original sculpture was the inspiration for the Bears of Sheffield trail. For his new bear, he wanted to tell the story of how the original bear came to be. Look closely and you will see words inscribed into the bear’s fur.
You will find The Story of a Steel Bear in front of the Glass Pavilion at the Botanical Gardens, close to his original bear in the Bear Pit.
