Description

This mural by Ethan Lemon in Neepsend features many references to the local area.

The ‘57’ is a nod to the year that Blagdens Garage, where the mural is located, was established. The car is inspired by an illustration from the 1950’s and also symbolises the automotive connection between the mural and Blagdens.

There’s also a big blue S in the background of the mural. This represents Sheffield‑Simplex, an early‑20th‑century luxury British car and motorcycle manufacturer based in Sheffield (1907–1920). Visit the Kelham Island Museum to see one of these beautiful cars for yourself.

The pink silhouetted factory is a reference to the traditional architecture of Neepsend and the wider Kelham Island area.

Ethan has incorporated one of Sik o Art’s foxes into their mural.
